Since 1896, Volunteers of America has been a faith-based non-profit social services organization dedicated to turning around the lives of the most vulnerable in our community. Our behavioral health services focus on homeless veterans, adults with addiction challenges, struggling seniors, and children with unique educational needs.
Our Behavioral Health Services Program focuses on treatment, mental health, public safety, and employment readiness. Our goal is to create safe and productive environments where individuals and families are strengthened and human potential is realized.
You won’t find a more dedicated, committed, and skilled team of people — staff members and volunteers alike — who are focused on helping you improve the quality of your life.
HOW WE’VE MADE A DIFFERENCE
I first came across Volunteers of America 22 years ago at the 10-day program on Island Street in San Diego. I was a resident at the 10-day program. They provided a place for me at a stage in my life to lay a new foundation and reset the course for the direction my life was headed.
By God’s grace, I have my kids in my life. I have not had my son living with me since he was a baby. Volunteers of America gave me hope and the people cared about me, and when I felt like giving up they helped me through it.
When I got here, I enrolled in a computer class, and it’s instilled a lot of confidence in me. Now I feel like I’m a productive member of society.
